Today, we are going to develop your introduction further. You will learn how to talk about your age, country, nationality and languages.
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to give a short but complete introduction about yourself in French.

3. Grammar focus – Avoir
We have already learned:
être = to be
Today we are learning:
avoir = to have
We use avoir to say our age.

Important!
In English, we say:
I am 12 years old.
But in French, we say:
J’ai 12 ans.
Literally:
I have 12 years.
Incorrect: Je suis 12 ans.
Correct: J’ai 12 ans.
This is an important structure to remember.
