Welcome to Formative Assessment 2 (FA2) for IB MYP French Unit 0.

This is a more advanced version of your first assessment, designed to help you:

  • Express emotions and personal experiences in detail

What Makes FA2 Different?

This assessment is more challenging than FA1.

You will need to:

  • Identify main ideas and details
  • Understand changes over time
  • Use imparfait and passé composé together
  • Explain feelings and reactions

Assessment Structure

A — Listening (20 marks)

You will listen to a more detailed story about childhood.

Focus on:

  • Context (where, when)
  • Actions vs habits
  • Emotional meaning

B — Reading (20 marks)

You will read a longer text and:

  • Identify personality traits
  • Understand change and development
  • Analyse meaning (not just find words)

D — Language (10 marks)

Grammar focus:

  • Imparfait (background, description)
  • Passé composé (events)
  • Time markers (quand, un jour, pendant que)
  • Sentence structure

C — Writing (30 marks)

You will write a short narrative (60–80 words).

You must include:

  • Imparfait (description)
  • Passé composé (event)
  • At least 2 emotions
  • Time markers (quand, un jour, etc.)

  • Passé composé to narrate
